I live in Cape Town South Africa and work in my home based studio.
I am self-taught. I began my journey as a full-time artist in 1994 after my son Nicholas was born. My inspiration is drawn from feelings of emotion, mood and colour. I am gently obsessed with fine detail and my use of colour is instinctive. It is important to me that each painting preserves it's own unmistakable individuality. This I portray through my own unique style.
It is a great pleasure to be able to paint each day. As an artist I nurture my talent, feed it and most of all use it.
I have exhibited my work at various exhibitions. My work hangs in galleries, private homes and corporate collections throughout South Africa and the world.
I work on one piece at a time from start to finish which can take up to many hours and days. My process of painting is through layering of acrylic inks and oil pencils. The use of lines in each piece is done with a paint brush which has very few hairs. This is how I build character and bring movement into my work. On completion of each painting I like to be having a conversation with each character. This gives me a great feeling of satisfaction as an artist.
